Vacation in Paradise // French Caribbean Photo Diary

Hey there,

First of all, I want to apologize for my lack of activity here, and seriously I have no excuse. I've been looking for an internship for the summer for 2 months now, sending lots of application (like 40 maybe), without any feed back. I guess I've been feeling under the weather, disappointed and stressed lately, and I didn't feel like blogging. I'm really sorry about that, but I'm back with lots of pictures! In fact, I was away for a week in the lovely island of Martinique, French Caribbean with my family and it was true paradise! I got home a few days ago but I'm still feeling the Jet-Lag running my life for me... Anyway, today, I thought I'll share some photographs from this sunny and hot trip.

It's funny how it's feels so out of space there, you're a thousands miles away from home, under a hot sun, walking on sand, with your toes close to the clear water, wearing shorts, flip flops and bathing suit, in March! Like what? Seriously, coming home was like a clap in my face. You leave a 30°C country and come home to 2°C and snow... I swear when I was laying on the beach under palm trees, with a book in one hand and ice cream on the other, I felt like it was summer, and I was going to come home to August, and free time. Nope, still in school, still have to wear turtle-necks and boots... But it could be worse.

I felt like every single trouble, anxiety, tiredness, even spots, was so far from me. The only thing I had to worry about was drinking enough water, putting sunscreen every 2 hours or so, and being aware of mosquitos, which was of no good use because I've got like 25 mosquitos bites all over my body, not even kidding... Funny story, I saw the stupidest sign at the airport when we were leaving "try to not get bitten by mosquitos", I'm sorry, what? I don't mean to be rude to whoever wrote this, but did you step outside the airport ? This island is crowded with mosquitos, and there's no way to not get bitten because even with repulsive, they, somehow, find a way to get to your skin and bite you on the most random spots. It's a miracle if I don't get Zika or any kind of virus...

I think I've never felt so relaxed and good, no sight of anxiety at all, even though it hit me right on the face when I got home. I had time, and it felt amazing, I could just focus on reading two books in a week and listening to music. I was so busy in France, I didn't even know Justin Bieber's new album was that good! I was listening to his song on the radio without even knowing it was him! I'm not a Beliebers but I'm not gonna lie, his album is really good. It was also a good time to stay away from shopping, I did not buy anything in a week! It's a record for me! Okay, I'm lying... I did buy a body lotion from Victoria Secret's at the airport, but can you blame a girl who does not get VS in France?

We walked a lot, and apart from going from beaches to beaches and tanning, we did a 2 hours hike in the "jungle" to see some amazing waterfalls, we took a boat to reach the other side of the island, and watch a sunset as we were riding on waves. We walked, we talked to people who live there, and who are so nice, we ate specialties, I drink coconut water out of a coconut for the first time of my life! I had banana gratin! and ice creams... lots of ice creams... No shame! I played fetch with the nicest dog, even though I'm scared of dogs. We took a rain shower on the most paradisiac beach and drove for 2 hours and 30 minutes through mountains with a jungle background with wet clothes on us, and laying on the car seats.

We rented an AirBNB by a small dark sand beach in the lovely city of Case-Pilote, a cute house with a sharing garden full of Palm Trees and coconut falling on the ground, and friendly dogs who belonged to the neighbors. At night, we would stay up playing rami on the terrace, fighting mosquitos with an electric bugs racket, listening to the sound of waves crashing on the beach, and weird bird's scream, which was similar to the sound of the black smoke from Lost.

It was an amazing trip in Paradise, full of memories spent in family. We had our ups and downs, but we had a lot of fun, and some moments of fear, like that night we found a huge spider in the bathroom, and I'm not even exaggerating! This spider was bigger than my hand, and it had hair! I really took this time for myself and enjoying life, and getting to a state of confidence. Even though I did take some pictures of this trip with my camera, I didn't take any real OOTD pictures. However, you can find some over on my Instagram.

I hope you enjoyed this photo diary, I'll sea you soon, but until then, you can follow me on Blog Lovin so you'll know exactly when my next posts are coming.

Love,

Elsa.
