Matte Lips and Contour, Latest Acquisitions and Obsessions
Paris, France Hey there,
It's no news that I have an obsession with makeup. I was never that much into makeup until three years ago, when I started to really get into makeup and beauty products. It started to get out of hands two years ago, not that it bothers me, but it does bother the balance on my bank account. Being the makeup addict and shopaholic that I am, I won't stop buying makeup, although I'm trying to be reasonable, kind of... I only buy things that I actually need (maybe not) and have been loving from afar. Since I'm on a beauty blog roll, I thought I'll stay on this vibe, and write about my latest beauty obsessions, and the latest things that I acquired over the past 3 months.
Step by Step Contour Kit - Smashbox
I had my eyes on this palette from awhile now, I've heard so many good things about Smashbox, I was urging to give it a try. I bought this at the Duty Free shop at the Amsterdam Aiport, since it was way cheaper than it is at Sephora, and I couldn't be happier. I has one contour shade, to define and sculpt the face, a bronzer shade for definition, and an highlighter. It's so pigmented and easy to blend and build. It also comes with a small brush for application, which I only use to apply the contour shade. The shades are amazing, they really define the face, and it gives you the contour on fleek vibe! I was seriously so proud of the contour the first time I used it, I couldn't stop taking selfie... Absolutely no shame!
Orgasm Blush - Nars
I never truly understand all the fuss around this blush, but when I first tried Nars' blushes from the Narsissist Cheek Studio Palette, I was so amazed by the quality and the pigmentation, I thought I had to try the Orgasm blush. Being the little reasonable person that I am, I didn't want to be a makeup addict and buy it since I found a great dupe from the Balm Cosmetics. I thought 'I'm gonna stick to my dupe, it's amazing and I'm good with it'. However, Sephora was nice enough to give me a sample for the Nars blush, and after 3 days of rubbing my brush into the small paper that held the blush, the obsession began and I needed the blush. I finally bought it, and couldn't be happier, it's a pink/coral shimmery color. It's pretty, pigmented, shimmery and gives a shiny and bright effects to the face.
Whatt's Up Cream-to-Powder Highlighter - Benefit
I was looking for a new highlighter since I'm almost running out of my highlighter from Mac. I tried the Benefit Highlighter two years ago when I got my brows done at Benefit, so when the time came for me to try a new highlighter, I immediately thought of this one. It has a champaign tone that I love that immediately bright up the face and attract the light. It's shimmery and it makes you look like a fairy. However, I'm not a big fan of the sponge that comes with it on the other side, I feel like it doesn't blend the highlight well.
Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer - Urban Decay
I fell in love with the Naked Skin Weightless Foundation, so weightless, smooths and light on the face. I needed a new concealer, so I made the most out of a promo code at Sephora. The coverage is sick! It feels light on the skin, it's easy to build and blend, and it highlights the face so much you look like an angel. Just kidding, but it is amazing. However, good things come with a price, and this concealer has silicones in it... My face couldn't really take it anymore, so now I just use it under my eyes...
Goof Proof Brow Pencil - Benefit
I've seen vlogs of people talking about the new Benefit brow collection, I've seen the craziness, the amazingness, the fuss etc. And from the moment I saw the collection in Sephora, there were no need to debate on whether or not I was going to buy something because it was well settled. I spent a good 30 minutes in front of the shelfs, looking at the products and wondering what was the best option for my brows. I already had the Gimme Brow (older version) in my makeup bag, and I really wanted a brow pencil to really define and fill in my brows. I decided to give the Precisely My Brow pencil a go. It's really cool, it has a pencil on one side and a brush on the other side. I will say, my brows have never been that much on fleek. It really helps fill in the brows and defines the shape, without giving a fake crazy effect to the brows. When I add the gimme brow gel, my brows look natural and on point.
Roller Lash Curling and Lifting Mascara - Benefit
The craziness around this mascara occurred last year, and since I was happy with my mascara by then, I didn't really care about this mascara. This mascara is supposed to lift and curl the lashes, without the need of an eyelash curler. I bought it because I ran out of my Nars mascara, and the Roller Lash Mascara was way cheaper than the Nars one, plus it came with a sample version that came handy because I was just leaving for Amsterdam and I didn't want to carry a full makeup bag. I will say that this mascara lives up from my expectations, it makes my lashes lifted, curled and longer. I love the brush because it's so thin it really catches the lash and makes the application easier and cleaner. Also it's waterproof, and when you're wearing contact, it's always a good thing!
Long-wear Crème Liquid Lipstick - Jouer
We don't get Jouer Cosmetics in France, but my friend told me about Cult Beauty an amazing British website that has an incredible range of brand and actually ships to France. I immediately went for the Long-wear Crème Liquid Lipstick from Jouer, in the colors Cassis and Brique (Fall Collection). The colors are amazing, and the lipsticks smell like crème brulée or vanilla, really nice. Cassis is a light pink with purple undertones lipstick, not what I would normally go-to but really pretty. Brique, on the other hand, is my go-to color, it's a deep red/burgundy lipstick. I don't really understand the Crème Liquid Lipstick name, because those are matte lipsticks. They feel creamy when you apply them, but when they're dry they are matte and dry... Although the colors are incredible, and they are long-wear, and do not transfer at all, they do not really feel nice on the lips after a while because it's so matte. But gotta suffer to look good, right?
Lip Contour - Huda Beauty
Same story as the Jouer lipsticks. On the order I placed from Cult Beauty, I also got two lip pencils from Huda Beauty. I only own one real lip pencil that I use to actually contour my lips before applying lipstick, and it's pink... Pretty limited. So I got the shade Icon and Cheerleader from Huda Beauty. I was really struggling to choose the colors I wanted because, even though they have quite a small range of colors, they all look amazing. Cheerleader is a deep red/burgundy shade, that matches perfectly with the Brique lipstick from Jouer. Icon is a deep pink with burgundy undertones. They are now a full part of my makeup routine, using those everyday, I'm obsessed. They feel nice on the lips, pigmented and the colors are gorgeous.
